Draft: Proposed Minutes

1.      Opening of the Meeting

Mr. Christian Trippe head of the Brussels office of Deutsche Welle welcomes the attendants.

2.      Approval of the „Proposed Minutes“

The proposed Minutes of the General Assembly in Riga, October, 2008 are approved.

3.      Presidency

Mariolina Bronzini and Gerhard Losher are unanimously elected as President and Vice-President for another two year’s term.

4.      Membership

(a)      Changes

·         Speciale TG from RAI slightly changed the format. Instead of one long item they’ll air 3 or 4 shorter items on one subject.

·         “Buongiorno Europa” of RAI/Milan has no studio link anymore in their programme

                 We are actually 14 members.

(b)     Applying for membership:

·         There was an interest from World Focus, a New York based news programme. They contacted the CC in April and were granted provisional membership which was not changed into a permanent one since there hadn’t been contact anymore.

·         Mrs. Marit Moi from NRK’s foreign news department visited us in Brussels and attended the meeting. She showed three most interesting news items at the screening similar to some of her own programme “URIX” actually shown once a week on Thursday from 23.15 till 23.45. From New Year on the programme will be aired four times a week from Monday till Thursday from 22.10 till 22.30 CET. The news show contains 3 to 5 items, basically world wide stories.

After the meeting Mrs. Moi applied for membership. Since during the meeting the attending members were already in favour of “URIX” joining membership was granted.

·         Udo Biss informed us of a serious interest from Mrs. Charlotte Harding from Danish TV. She would like to join INTERMAG with her programme “Horisont” actually a former INTERMAG member. Unfortunately she couldn’t attend the meeting due to coverage of Obama’s visit in Copenhagen.

After the meeting Mrs. Harding applied for membership. Since it was a re-entry and none of the members objected, membership was granted. The programme focuses on foreign affairs - politics, economics, society or lifestyle and is aired twice a week:
Monday 21.25 and Tuesday 12.10.

·         Other interesting shows for INTERMAG could be MDR/”Windrose”, France 3/“Avenue de l’Europe” and VRT/“Ter Zake”. Contacts are or will be established to all three of them. As a more general partner Polish and Spanish public TV will be contacted.

5.      Exchange

Ingrid Thörnqvist suggested an exchange by FTP. It would be a good system and very cheap. Unfortunately most of our members are unable to work with this Internet based system. We will look into the matter.

6.      Next Meeting

Once more we would like to let the location of the next meeting depend on the outcome of future contacts. Still first on the list is Polish TV based in Warsaw. The next meeting should take place beginning of September.
