Intermag General Assembly Helsinki May, 11/12, 2001 |
Proposed Minutes
Mr. Ari Järvinen, Head of News and Current Affairs welcomed the INTERMAG participants and pointed out the importance of an association going against the mainstream of commercialisation in today’s media landscape.
Mariolina Bronzini (RAI), INTERMAG President, welcomed the participants and thanked YLE for the invitation and an impeccable organisation.
At the General Assembly in Zagreb 97 it was decided that the CC would be hosted by Deutsche Welle for Three years. This period ended in October 2000. No station came forward with an application, which means that Deutsche Welle will go on.
Both president and vice-president want to step down. Since there were no candidates, Reinhard Behm proposed that the participants should write down the name of an attendant they consider suitable for the job. Eva Vikstedt asked if we could postpone the election until the next day: this would allow newcomers to get acquainted.
Samples of all applying programmes were shown at the beginning of the screening and they were all accepted as members.
(b) Changes among Members: New Titles, Formats, Contacts etc.
Results of the Working Group: Most of the members of the working broup were not present in Helsinki (Vladimir Spicer), some of them even left INTERMAG (Steffen Gram, Guido Baumhauer, Karin Brans, Katinka Nowotny). The outcome of their action was not very successful: a letter was drawn and sent out to some target programmes but only Katinka Nowotny managed to attract SRG. Mariolina Bronzini brought two RAI programmes in the exchange. It seems that everyone is too busy to seriously tackle the problem of finding new members, consequently it is of no use to establish a new working group or to send out the letter again,. Obviously it is not read. The best way to win new members is to promote INTERMAG via personal contacts.
No remarks or suggestions

No invitation was forwarded. Mariolina Bronzini will contact some members in the next weeks.
Mariolina Bronzini accepted to continue as president of INTERMAG, but Reinhard Behm insisted on stepping down. As it was suggested on Friday the attendants entitled to vote wrote down the name of the person they consider suitable as vice-president. Eva Vikstedt got the majority with six votes. She accepted for one year, since she will be taking up another job at YLE 2002.
(b) PES Training Session
All participants could join Daniel Hansch from Tecmath to familiarise themselves with the PES or to raise questions and update their knowledge of the system.
