2.   Approval of the „Proposed Minutes“

The proposed Minutes of the General Assembly in Tallinn, November, 2007 are approved.

3.   Membership

   (a)   Leave INTERMAG 2008:

• SF/”10vor10” wants to leave INTERMAG by the end of the year. Gerhard Losher is going to contact them to see if they would change their mind.

• RAI/”TV7” would also leave INTERMAG. They have a lot of studio interviews which are not really interesting for the exchange

                 We are actually 14 members.

   (b)   Promotion:

• An invitation had been sent out to Latvian TV. Mr. Mareks Gailitis, head of the news department, couldn’t join us during the day but stopped by in the evening to meet us at the hotel. He was very much interested in a co-operation with INTERMAG, but he probably was not the right contact for our purposes.

• On Saturday Mrs. Daina Jankalne joined us for the screening. She produces and presents her programme called “Abi Labi”, a programme dealing with social phenomena and taking a critical look at the different sides of them. It is broadcast on national TV. She wants to establish a contact with the responsible for programming at LTV.

• Last year we took up the idea of creating a leaflet/address booklet that could be distributed to possible members. But we abolished this plan since most of the attending members thought that paper is thrown away without reading. Instead we should concentrate on the website. There should be a short description of the member-programmes as well as practical info such as time slot, language, length of the reports a.s.o. Also there should be links to the member programmes.

  Concerning the attraction of new members we were curious to learn what Ingrid pulled over the line to join. According to her the simplicity of the system is also its strength. Furthermore seeing the reports at the screening really convinced her to join. The main advantage of INTERMAG is that the exchange functions very fast and smoothly. One phone call is enough to receive the scripts as well as the piece within a day.

  Ingrid also came up with the idea to search for interesting members in the European TV landscape. There should be a possibility to find a suitable programme for every INTERMAG member. Since such a research is a time consuming job it would be better to hire someone to do this research. Ingrid knows such a person, who immediately agreed to do the job for us. She would be paid of the INTERMAG budget. In order to find the perfect match for every programme she would need a profile of the different members. Therefore the CC should gather programme descriptions. After she has presented a list of possible new members, contact should be established on a personal basis since this has proven to be the best way to reach a valid commitment.

5.   Next Meeting

The location of the next meeting should depend on the outcome of the inquiry. Since we pay for the meetings ourselves we are free to go wherever potential members take us.
