Draft: Proposed Minutes

1.    Opening of the Meeting

Mariolina Bronzini welcomes the members and especially the two representatives of our new (old) member DR/Horisont

2.    Approval of the „Proposed Minutes“

The proposed Minutes of the General Assembly in Brussels, October 2-3, 2009 are approved.

3.    Presidency

Since Mariolina Bronzini sadly enough is going to be retired March next year a solution has to be found for the continuation of the presidency. Normally new elections would be due in autumn next year. Unfortunately there is no reference in the statutes for this situation. It was decided that Mariolina will finish her term next spring and Vice-President Gerhard Losher will take over from then until the next General Assembly where a new president will be elected. As a goodbye to Mariolina and to honour her 16 years of commitment to our organisation we will hold the next meeting in Rome.

Gerhard Losher suggested an election of two vice-presidents. This makes the board broader and in case of an early goodbye for whatever reason two people remain responsible.

The question came up who is to replace Mariolina at RAI after her departure. She is trying to single out a person who would be responsible.

4.    Membership

(a)    Changes

·         At NRK/URIX Marit Moi is taken ill and Torstein Nilsen will be the representative for the time being. Still offerings and all information should be sent to both.

·         “Buongiorno Europa” of RAI/Milan is to be abolished as from October 2010. There is a lot of protest against that decision at RAI/Milan but since the budget is too small it will probably not survive. Mariolina reported of another programme with RAI/Trieste “Est Ovest” that would be interested. Editor in chief is Gian Paolo Girelli. It is a 30’ programme with different reports and studio anchoring based at one of RAI 3’s regional programmes. Mariolina looks into the matter.

·         RAI/Speciale TG1 changed its format. It became a news show at the studio with interviews, discussions and 2’ to 5’ items to one theme. RAI decided that they prefer studio debates rather than documentaries. Perhaps TV7 could replace the programme. It shows 10 pieces ranging from 4’ to 10’. There are no anchors. Mariolina has to check whether their films have IT.

                 We are actually 17 members.

(b)    Applying for membership:

·         SF/10vor10 applied for membership and since it basically is a renewal the attendants were all in favour. 10vor10 is a daily high level news show featuring European and worldwide reports. Because they have a show every evening it is almost impossible to send around offerings. The members should consult the website and order directly. The e-mail addresses have been sent around to the members. An extra page for the booklet will also be sent.

·         At NRK there is part from URIX another current affairs show “Weekend Magazine” aired on Sunday. They also have foreign affairs reports and could be an additional member.

·           In our never ending attempt to attract new members some candidates were suggested: e.g. RBB/TVP / “Kowalski trifft Schmidt”, a polish/german co-operation with bilateral stories. At NRK there is also an interesting current affairs weekend show on Sunday with foreign reports.

5.    Exchange

·           Not only for 10vor10 but also for other desks that have a daily show it could be interesting to receive offerings on a direct basis in case a programme thinks it has a suitable report. For such daily programmes it is almost impossible to screen other shows.

·           There was a remark about MTV. Hungarian TV orders a lot of items but wasn’t able to deliver some images to help out another member. We realize MTV is struggling but still there has to be some kind of balance. The presidency writes a letter to MTV.

·           Our Danish colleagues said they have no time to write offerings. It was suggested to take the press release and translate a few lines and in any case be critical of what to offer. That could reduce the work load.

·           Using material of INTERMAG items to spice up own reports is not permitted without approval of the offering programme.

6.    Internet

·           Bente Lundstrom from DR/Horisont points out that her programme cannot be watched in the internet, because DR only has the rights for Denmark. Furthermore they cannot watch shows on other TV websites, so the sending of offerings is important to the Danes.

·           Every station has a different approach to the Internet. In any case it is not possible to show single INTERMAG reports in the internet or use them for radio use, facebook, YouTube. Only in the context of the programme the exchanged reports can be shown. Especially YouTube is a grey zone concerning rights. Everyone takes from YouTube and if a contact can be established rights are discussed. But this is not always the case.

7.    Next Meeting
